Zdravko M. Mijailovic, MD, PhD, (born on April 8th, 1959) is founder and Chief of the Medical Team of the MedExNews.
He is the Medical Director for MedZed Inc.,Chicago,IL, American Registred Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Adult Echocardiography (AE), Member of European Society of Cardiology, Fellow of American College of Cardiology (F.A.C.C.), Member of American Society of Echocardiography (M. A. S. E.). He was a Professor of Medicine, Department of Cardiology MMA, Belgrade, Cardiologist.
His clinical skills are comprehensive Clinical Cardiology, comprehensive Non-Invasive Cardiology Diagnostics, Placement of Temporary and Permanent Pacemakers and Clinical Transthoracal Echocardiography.

His interests are Multidisciplinary Sciences ( Fundamental Principles of the Methodology in Science and Research, Mathematical Models in Biomedicine, Virtual Simulations in Biomedicine and Theory Systems in Biology ). He has written the four books and published 218 papers in the field of basic and clinical cardiology, modeling in biomedicine, and virtual simulations.
He has two acknowledged medical patents in Patent Office of Former Yugoslavia and one Patent Application in The United States Patent and Trademark Office.

His father Milomir was quite a physically active and without lot of risk factors for any disease. In March 2002 he had been diagnosed a stone in the urether and he underwent routine outpatient treatment. All medical recommendations and experience showed that he should undergo the percutaneous intervention, with statistically insignificant risks. However, suddenly during routine percutaneous treatment of a stone in the urethra (ESWL treatment) he got a massive pulmonary thromboembolism. He died at the age of 65, only three days after establishing the diagnosis, due to the complication which had only a minor probability of occurrence during these procedures.
His mother Desanka was diagnosed in 1998 a cancer of the uterus which started intramurally and at the time of the diagnosis it was in an advanced stage.Before that, she was regularly checked by her gynecologist and valid medical recommendations and experience did not request a routine ultrasound or other scanner (statistically she had a low risk for this cancer). She underwent radiotherapy and spreading of the cancer was stopped.However, in 2003 she died at the age of 66, from the fatal complications of the radiotherapy, although the probability for these complications was less than spreading the cancer if this therapy had not been applied.
Dr Mijailovic realized that all predictions in biomedicine are based on statistics (probability theory) because research is conducted on groups of subjects with interactions of a lot of parameters. These research is mostly inconsistent in particular cases (a patient is treated personally and it is well known that in these estimations mistakes can be fatal). He made himself clear that statistically low probability for a person in whom it happens represent an event which is equal to probability of 100%.
That’s why he thinks that every biomedical problem has to be considered as a specific and very complex system with “n” entities and it should be studied as a special and personalized problem with evidence.
